- This course introduces the concept and paradigm of industry 4.0 and its technological and structural impacts on future market and industry. We identify the characteristics and role of smart manufacturing in industry 4.0 and do comparative analysis between smart and conventional manufacturing. Based on the attributes of smart manufacturing, we also figure out the necessary technologies for successful implementation of smart manufacturing, and define appropriate structure and functions of products and processes, and supply chain. Finally, the efficient strategy and management of smart manufacturing is discussed and its performance measures are identified.
- Introduction to the analysis of manufacturing systems using analytical and experimental models. Topics include many variant analytical models and modeling approaches that address a wide variety of manufacturing system design and operation issues.
- This course covers the concept, theory, and framework of sustainable supply chain (SSC) and applicable cases. The definition of SSC and its value are reviewed and some theoretical bases are introduced. Major research areas are also addressed for the future research. Some outstanding cases are explored and discussed for students to enhance their understanding of SSC.
- This course provides the comprehensive concepts and systematic approach of innovation engineering in enterprises and organizations. Students can learn the theory of diffusions of innovations, the economic analysis of value of innovation, and the strategic and operational factors for maximizing the value of innovation. The course deals with the modeling process of value creation through innovation in product and process viewpoints. All topics are supplemented with case analyses in real enterprise environments.
